Update: I added another photo of one of the first Easter photos with the Durkeses.
Over the weekend Tony and I drove up to Rochester, Indiana for my 50th High School Reunion. It was an exhilarating and emotional experience. Most of the classmates I hadn't seen since high school graduation. I recognized some of the people without looking at their name tags, but it was difficult for a few. Many of my close friends were in attendance, including my best friend, John!
Before the reunion, John, Tony and I drove around town and Lake Manitou, and we had the best time reminiscing. We drove by the old A&W Drive-in, Dad's laundromat, the lake cottage my family rented every summer, Main Street, and most importantly, the Flagpole, the frozen custard shop from my childhood. It reopened this year so we stopped for ice cream (they no longer serve frozen custard), and Tony took this photo of John and me.
Tony and I also found time to stop at Peg's house and visit with her. Her daughters, Linda, Sandra, and Brenda, were there too. I hadn't seen Peg since Mom's funeral in 2008. She looks great and she is still a tough cookie! I showed them the slideshow of Easter photos from the past on my iPad. Every Easter both of our families would meet and the kids lined up in order of age for Easter photos. Click here to see the slideshow.
An emotional moment at the Reunion was when we all went outside to the patio of the Elks Club, right on the lake, and had a memorial service for the 21 classmates who had passed. RIP, classmates.
Before we went back inside for our group photo, I captured this video of Lake Manitou. I didn't realize how much I missed being on this lake with all of its memories from my childhood: swimming, boating, skiing, and sitting at night in front of our cottage with my cousins in 1962, looking for Telstar. I loved the hit song that year of the same name. You can hear it here.

This beautiful building houses the Fountain Square Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library. It's located in the heart of Fountain Square's Business District at 1066 Virginia Avenue. The branch began in 1896 as Branch #3, and it moved several times before moving to this building in 1994.
