Cinammon Rolls From the Past
When I was a kid, my parents had some good friends named Willie and Roy. I think Willie was short for Willamena, which I learned was the feminine form of William. Anyway, we would visit them at their house in Twelve Mile, Indiana a few times each year. And each time we'd visit, we were served either homemade vanilla ice cream or homemade cinnamon rolls, or both. Willie was the best at making cinnamon rolls. To this day, anytime I see or smell them, I think of Willie.
Today I found a recipe for a "healthier" version of cinnamon rolls, with less fat and sugar. I was surprised that they tasted almost exactly like Willie's, which I'm sure had plenty of butter and sugar.
Here are some photos of before and after baking. Wish I could send the smell.
