Wagner's Village Inn Fried Chicken!
Last night we went back to Wagner's Village Inn in Oldenburg for their famous fried chicken. We drove down with Bob and Gary and met John and Doug there. They had already reserved the best table for us, the one in the window nook where Mom and Dad sat, when Mike and I took them and Cyle and Cory for fried chicken. It's not healthy food, but it's delicious, and we try to make it down there once a year. John and Doug also surprised us with dessert cupcakes topped with these hilarious plastic flower candles. So funny! There were lots of wisecracks about our college days, (John and I were college roommates), and about our outfits for gym class. (You had to be there to get that!) But if you're yearning for fried chicken like your grandma used to cook, it's worth the drive down there.
Many of you already know that Bob and Gary come here every other week for dinner. (John and Doug would too if they didn't live so far away!) Bob and I have been best friends since we taught together at Clark. I'm thankful that I met him before I retired. He and his partner have been together about as long as Tony and me.
A few months ago Bob and Gary rescued the cutest little dog, Bernie. He's a Miniature Pinscher, has one eye, and is as cute as a button. I took a photo of Bob with Bernie, and I wanted to add it to my Year in Pictures poster, but it was a vertical photo and I would have had to chop off one of their heads. So I promised I would feature it in my blog.
Here's a photo of Bob and Gary:
