Monopoly and the 60s
Yesterday I saw this post about a new version of the Monopoly game, celebrating the 80th Anniversary of the game. The post took me back to the 60s when I used to carry the game over to Cathy Brown's house, and several kids in the neighborhood joined us to play. So many of our summer days were spent playing that game. When we got tired of Monopoly, we'd get out Cathy's Park and Shop game!
It's interesting to read about Monopoly's history.
My neighbor Sandy saw the post and commented she wanted the Iron or Thimble token. I didn't see my favorite token in the 80th Anniversary Edition. It was the Scotty Dog. Fortunately, in a "Save Your Token" campaign by Hasbro in which Monopoly fans could vote on their favorite token, the Scotty Dog was saved, but the Iron was scrapped for a Cat.
