We Are Married!
This morning at 9:30 I rode my bike down to the City-County Building to marry my partner, Tony Warfield. We are both so happy and a little stunned by the recent events. I never dreamed that I would be able to marry him in my home state of Indiana. I realize we could have driven to another state, but it just didn't seem right to me. I was born and raised in Indiana, so I decided a long time ago that I would wait until the law changed, hopefully before I passed on. And Wednesday it did! Miracles do happen.
I'm well aware that there could be a stay, for reasons I just don't understand. Why do some of the Republicans, who are all for smaller government, want to spend taxpayer dollars to keep Tony and me from getting married? Why aren't they using that money for education, rebuilding infrastructure, or healthcare. It just doesn't make any sense to me.
But for today, at least, we are married! I couldn't be happier to be married to the sweet, kind and amazing man that I met almost 8 years ago, my Tony.
