On Sunday as I was cycling through White River State Park in the rain, I noticed this falcon sitting on one of the light poles. I assume he was looking for a tasty lunch, and he probably wasn't heading toward the Dig IN celebration. From what I can tell it looks like a Peregrine Falcon. I took a couple more shots, one in which he is "posing" for me.
This species was almost eradicated by the use of poisonous chemicals in the middle of the 20th Century. Fortunately the falcons have made an amazing recovery.
