Cycling with Beats 1!
I just had one of the best bike rides ever. No, it wasn't a different route, still on the Cultural Trail. Two things made a difference. One, it was 8:00 p.m., so the light for taking photos was much better. And two, I was listening to Beats 1 Radio the whole time.
Apple Music arrived today. After being a subscriber of Beats Music for a year, since the time Apple bought Beats, the "new" streaming music wasn't a new thing for me. But Beats Radio is brand new. It's a global radio station. Now, you have to remember, I haven't used iTunes for over 3 years. I switched to Spotify for a couple of years, then Beats. But it's been 10 years since I listened to a radio station with DJs. Some people are complaining because the "DJs talk too much." It's a radio station with DJs! They're supposed to talk a little. And, it's not traditional radio with a million commercials. Fortunately for those who don't like Beats 1 Radio, Apple Music offers a lot more.
I have to admit that some of the songs they play on Beats 1 are not my style; it depends on what time of the day it is and who the DJ is, but most of the music is right on.
The DJs rotate from New York, LA and London. (Julie Adenuga from London is my favorite.) The DJs even take requests! It's cool hearing requests back to back from Oslo, Norway and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Beats 1 equals my favorite radio station as a teenager: WLS, from Chicago with DJ Larry Lujack. Actually, it's better because there are no commercials!
I took this photo as I was listening to Beats 1.
