My Dream Bicycle
If Apple made a bicycle, it would look a lot like my dream bicycle, only it would be in white. This is my dream bicycle.
It is the VanMoof SmartBike, and it's made in The Netherlands. My friend Jerome told me about it. I never heard of the bike, or even that company before. When he described it to me, I was intrigued. So I did some research.
This is called a City Bike, designed for commuters and cyclists who ride mostly in the city or commute to work in any location. I like the futuristic look, and the fact that it has disc brakes, fenders, and a concealed chain. But best of all it has built-in GPS and Bluetooth, with an iPhone app that works with the bike. The lights and electronics are powered by pedaling. The electronics are hidden in the bike frame at the top. My dream bike comes with 8-speeds, and instead of the conventional derailleur system, the transmission is integrated in the rear hub. How cool is that?
Another cool feature is Touch Unlock. When you touch your bike it uses Bluetooth to recognize you and unlock the integrated lock. VanMoof offers a guarantee that if your bike is stolen while locked, they can track it down and find it for you. If they don't find it in 2 weeks, they will send a new bike to you! They also ship the SmartBike to you for free, and after 30 days, if you don't like the bike, you can return it for free, no questions asked. You can't beat that!
That is why, after 17 years of cycling with my trusty Cannondale, I decided to purchase the SmartBike. I ordered it online last Thursday and delivery should be today! I am extremely excited, and for once it's not because it's an Apple device!
Here's a short video about the SmartBike:
